Situated in the beautiful surroundings of the Quinta do Lago Estate and a 15 minute drive from Faro airport lies Pinheiros Altos golf club. A friendly, picturesque Member/Visitor golf club established in the early 1990's.
Inaugurated by Lee Westwood in 2003, Pinheiros Altos Golf Academy incorporates V1 and Flightscope technology to help you push towards your golfing goals. All run by experienced British P.G.A. golf professionals.
Algarve's Professional Golf/Teaching Facility
The Golf Academy at Pinheiros Altos includes two fully equipped teaching bays, a Titleist custom fit centre and a putting/fitness studio to help you find suitable equipment under professional guidance.
Our extensive practice facilities offer the chance for up to 30 players at a time to work on their long game, while two practice putting greens and a superb chipping/bunker area will ensure there'll be no excuse for not improving your game.
A private training area for groups is also available at the far end of our range, which can be used for a multitude of purposes and can be reserved in advance via our golf office.
V1 is the number one swing analysis system in golf and is the preferred swing analysis system of the world's top instructors.
V1 has been used at the Academy for several years with fantastic results and appraisals. With the continuing updates of the software, the V1 system still remains the best video analysis system available.
The system not only allows the client to analyse their swing through a comparison or overlay, it also allows a slow motion playback and various drawing tools to make understanding the problems and fixes far more simple. With the V1 system now installed in both of the teaching bays and also on our professionals apple devices, the analysis is fully portable. Whether it be in the teaching bays, on the range, chipping green, putting green or even the course. It is an excellent tool to help in your understanding of your faults.
Our end bay is a fully equipped Titleist fitting centre. Here we have an excellent selection of shafts and heads.
With the help of our fully qualified P.G.A. Professionals, we can find the right equipment for you. With a varied choice of irons, along with the latest range of hybrid/ fairway woods and drivers, we can fit you with the right clubs. We then take your product order, all part of a very straightforward process.
We also do Titleist Vokey wedge fittings with a selection of more than 20 wedge/ bounce types. You too can have a wedge game like the pros.

Ross and Kenny both use Flightscope ball flight analysis with their clients, to show the varying results of impact and ball flight relative to their swing .
It gives a clear picture of what your club and swing are doing and gives a precise indication of the changes that need to be made to help improve your golf. We also use this technology to help guide our players towards the most suitable equipment that they should use on a daily basis.

At the Pinheiros Altos golf academy we are lucky to have two fully qualified British P.G.A. Professionals in Ross Sutherland(Head Professional) and Kenny Fairbairn ( Head of Tuition) who have been working in the Algarve for over a decade and have been helping all standards of golfers, from complete beginners to accomplished professionals. Whether it is the frustration of your handicap staying the same, you're practicing hard but seeing no improvement with your scores or even just to brush up on your fundamentals, you will find first class tuition and facilities.
Lesson packages are available for all ages and abilities, you can book your lesson today. It is also possible as a visitor to use our practice facilities. You pay a 20 euro day fee which allows you unlimited use and balls for that day. You also have the option of practicing after 1.30 p.m. for a fee of 10 euros with the same conditions as the day fee. Kenny Fairbairn
Head of Tuition
Kenny Fairbairn has been a fully qualified AA British PGA Professional since 1995. Kenny started his early career on the England/Scotland border at Goswick Golf Club where he achieved international status for England at both youth and senior level. Kenny then moved to Portugal at the end of 1995 to focus on advancing his teaching career.
Based in and around Quinta do Lago during that time, Kenny now offers top class tuition and experience to enhance any golfers' level of play.
Ross Sutherland
Head Professional
Ross Sutherland has been a British P.G.A Professional since 2001 and has been at Pinheiros Altos throughout this time as an assistant through to his current position as Head professional. Originally from Scotland, he was lucky enough to spend time shadowing his Director of Golf who was the coach to Sandy Lyle.Ross has Spent a significant amount of time with a number of the world's top coaches and top players on the European Tour and has used these various influences to help him develop his own teaching techniques to be more informative, effective and enjoyable. Ross is a qualified Titleist custom club fitter.
